Charger Exploration is a successful independent oil and gas exploration and consulting company located in Houston, Texas. Charger focuses its exploration activities in the onshore Texas Gulf coast and is committed to generating high quality oil and gas prospects based on the integration of subsurface well data with 3-D seismic.
Vision
Charger is focused on generating conventional, high quality and economic oil and gas prospects in the onshore Gulf Coast of Texas.
These prospects are generated "in house" through the integration of subsurface well data with both 2-D and 3-D seismic data. The 3-D seismic is interpreted on state of the art interpretation software and having been fully integrated with subsurface well data, produce high-resolution drilling prospects.
Charger has partnered with a number of other successful independents and is always looking for other well qualified potential partners to participate in its Gulf Coast prospects.
Michael L. Jones President & Geologist
Mike has more than fifteen years of experience as an independent
geologist exploring for oil and gas and consulting in the Gulf Coast of
Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Mike has generated a number of
successful prospects mainly in the prolific Frio-Vicksburg trend of
Refugio, San Patricio and Nueces Counties in Texas. Prior to founding
Charger Exploration, L.L.C. in 2010, Mike worked as a retainer geologist
with Scout Petroleum, L.L.C. prospecting in South Texas from 2003 to
2010.
In addition to generating prospects of his own, Mike
frequently consults for a variety of companies working the Gulf Coast.
Clients and projects have included Louisiana salt dome development work
with Linc Energy, Gulf of Mexico production sales with The Oil & Gas
Asset Clearinghouse, Southeast Texas well evaluation with Hunt
Exploration & Mining, field development work in Louisiana and
Mississippi with Radiant Oil & Gas and prospect
generation mainly in East Texas for Davis Holdings.
Mr. Jones is
an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists
(AAPG), Houston Geological Society (HGS), Corpus Christi Geological
Society (CCGS), Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists
(SIPES) and Onshore Exploration Independents (OEI). He has held a number
of executive level positions on the Boards of Directors of the HGS,
Gulf Coast Geological Library and the SIPES Houston Chapter where he is currently the 2020 Chairman. Mike was also the
recipient of the HGS Rising Star Award in 2005, the HGS President’s
Award in 2008 and the 2018 SIPES Houston Chapter Next Generation Award.
Mike earned a B.S. in Geology from Texas A&M
University in 2001 and a Master of Science degree in Geology from Texas
Tech University in 2003.
